Branden Herron started playing tuba when he outgrew his Middle School band director in 2002 and never looked back from there.

After toiling against physics, Branden transitioned to music full time and began studying with Dr. Tony Mazzaferro. Branden received his Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance from Cal Poly Pomona where he was Principal tuba for the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Brass Quintet for all 4 years, including a performance as a featured Soloist with the Wind Ensemble.

Upon completion of his degree, Branden began studying with John Van Houten at Azusa Pacific University (APU), earning an Artist Certificate and a Master’s in Tuba Performance.

While at APU, Branden performed three full length recitals in 4 years and was a featured Soloist with the APU Wind Ensemble in a production of Tubby the Tuba.

In 2014 Branden began freelancing and joined the Bear Brass Band on Sousaphone. Bear Brass is the House Band for the Anaheim Ducks and they have performed in front of Internationally televised NHL Playoff Games since 2015.

Branden is also the Principal Tuba for the Corona Symphony Orchestra, OCofOC (Orchestra Collective of Orange County), the Coachella Valley Symphony, the Symphonic Winds of the Pacific, and the Loma Linda Brass Choir.

When Branden isn’t performing or working on instruments, you can usually find him in the kitchen or snuggling with his three scruffy terriers!
